Pregnancy can bring about many changes to your lifestyle as well as your looks. Many women have body contouring issues after giving birth, which is why there is mommy makeover surgery. With a mommy makeover, your appearance can be effectively restored and renewed. When you come to our Sydney plastic surgery centre, we’ll be able to go over all of your options for a mommy makeover in detail. Let’s just look at some of the most popular ones below.

Tummy Tuck Surgery (Abdominoplasty)

One of the most common surgeries performed as part of a mommy makeover is the Sydney tummy tuck. Also known as an abdominoplasty, the tummy tuck will remove loose and stretched skin located in the lower abdominal area. By doing this, the stomach will look flat and smooth again. Surgical scars will be hidden by most undergarments and bathing suits.

Breast Lift Surgery (Mastopexy)

Breasts can droop and sag after giving birth due to fluctuations in weight and nursing. One way to improve overall breast contour and figure is to undergo breast lift surgery. Breast lift surgery will remove excess skin tissue to tighten and lift breasts that sag. It’s an ideal way to restore perkiness to the appearance.

Arm Lift (Brachiplasty) and Thigh Lift (Thighplasty)

The extremities can both be affected by the weight gain and weight loss associated with pregnancy. In order to address those matters, there is the arm lift and thigh lift. The arm lift (brachioplasty) is ideal for reshaping the triceps and the shoulder area. The thigh lift (thighplasty) is great for reducing loose skin in the upper leg, the frontal portion of the thighs, and the inner thighs.

Neck Lift and Lower Facelift Surgery

The neckline and jowls can be affected by pregnancy and hormonal fluctuations, which is why neck lift and facial liposuction are both good options. This will help slim down the neckline and leave you looking much younger and more refreshed in the process.

Total Body Lift Options

We haven’t covered all of the parts of the body that may be affected by pregnancy, but rest assured that we can perform a total body lift surgery. This will target various areas of the body that may be affected by childbirth. If you have excess pockets of fat or loose skin, we can remove it and leave you looking trimmer and slimmer.

Customizing Your Mommy Makeover to Your Needs

Every patient who comes into our Sydney plastic surgery centre is different, and hence we do our best to customize the treatment to the patient. It’s the only way to effectively enhance body contour in the most natural and subtle way. You will receive our full attention the entire time you are with us. We are here for you.

Losing weight is a great idea for good health. You see, people who are obese or morbidly obese run a higher risk of developing certain adverse health conditions, including strokes, heart disease, high blood pressure, heart attacks, diabetes, and certain kinds of cancers. Of course, after losing the weight, people often experience issues with loose and stretched skin. In order to restore the overall figure and shape of a person’s body, it’s imperative that you visit with a Sydney plastic surgeon for skin tightening and body sculpting.

Why Skin Tightening is Necessary After Weight Loss

As a person gains weight, his or her skin will stretch to accommodate the added girth. The skin can stretch out a great deal. When the weight is lost, the skin can only shrink back so far around the slimmer frame. This is a natural occurrence, and the result is lots of loose skin and stretch marks. The only way to remove this loose skin and the appearance of stretch marks is by visiting our plastic surgery centre in Sydney. We can surgically excise this loose skin and leave you looking trim and fit again. Below are some common surgeries for skin tightening.

Reshape the Abdominal Area and Reduce Sagging Skin

One of the most common skin tightening and body contouring surgeries is the Sydney tummy tuck. Also known as an abdominoplasty, the tummy tuck removes skin around the lower abdominal area and the sides, making the abdomen look slim.

Sculpting the Arms and Thighs

The upper arms and thighs can both be affected by major weight gain. To remove that excess tissue, the arm lift and thigh lift are both great options, especially for the inner thighs and the shoulder and tricep areas.

Breast Revisions After Major Weight Loss

The size and shape of the breasts can change a lot following weight loss. In order to make the breasts look pert and firm again, there is the breast lift or the breast reduction. These surgeries will remove excess tissue and improve the overall contour of the breasts in the process.

Recontouring the Chest for Men

Men can have issues with the chest area and upper torso after major weight loss. Skin may sag or the pectoral area may appear effeminate. To deal with these matters, male breast reduction is essential. Excess skin and fat are removed, making the chest look trim and muscular.

Comprehensive Revision of Your Figure

By combining many of the above surgeries, a comprehensive body lift will be accomplished. Each body lift is custom tailored to the patient, which is why you should visit with a plastic surgeon in Sydney as soon as possible.

Learn More About Body Contouring and Sculpting Surgery

There is always going to be an answer for your needs if you are looking to reshape and sculpt your frame. To learn more about surgical body contouring and what it can do for you, be sure to contact our Sydney cosmetic surgery practice for a consultation.

Rhinoplasty, a popular plastic surgery procedure that is also called a “nose job,” can have a dramatic effect on improving a patient’s physical appearance and along with it, their self-esteem. By reshaping, resizing, or straightening out the nose, a skilled surgeon can create a more balanced and symmetrical look to a patient’s face.

However, rhinoplasty is a fairly complicated surgery and the best results are not always achieved with the first procedure. In fact, rhinoplasty has a higher revision rate than other types of plastic surgery, mostly because the nose is such a prominent feature on our faces, that little imperfections are more noticeable than on other parts of the body. For this and other reasons, some patients choose to undergo another surgical procedure on their nose in an effort to improve the look after the first surgery. This subsequent procedure is called revision rhinoplasty.

Our Sydney plastic surgeon and rhinoplasty professional, Dr. Darrell Perkins, is vastly experienced in helping his patients achieve just the look they are seeking with revision rhinoplasty. By expertly revisiting an earlier rhinoplasty procedure, either one done by himself or one performed by another physician, Dr. Perkins is able to create a nose that is the perfect size, shape, and proportion.

Common Reasons for Revision Rhinoplasty

There are many reasons why patients choose to have revision rhinoplasty in an effort to improve the appearance of an earlier procedure. Some patients are unhappy with the size of their nose post-surgery. Others may have had a different shape of nose in mind when they went in for surgery and are not satisfied with how their new nose turned out. Whatever the reason, revision rhinoplasty often gives patients just the look they were seeking with their initial surgery.

Some of the most common reasons for revision rhinoplasty include:

Asymmetrical or unbalanced nose

Callous or bump on the nose

Scar tissue build up in tip of nose (also called Parrot Beak)

Pinched tip of nose

Post-operative changes in the size, shape or contour of nose

Revision rhinoplasty is not always because the result of a patient’s unhappiness with the look of their nose after surgery. Sometimes, patients have a difficult time breathing through a post-surgery nose and turn to revision rhinoplasty to improve airflow through the area.

Many nasal obstructions, such as a build of scar tissue inside the nostrils or nasal cavity, can be easily reduced or entirely eliminated with revision rhinoplasty. If your breathing is more difficult after a rhinoplasty procedure, you may find relief and better breathing with a simple revision rhinoplasty surgery.

Contact Our Sydney Rhinoplasty Surgeon

If you are unhappy with the results of your rhinoplasty surgery and looking to improve the look, size, or shape of your nose, then revision rhinoplasty might be just the thing for you. By undergoing a second procedure, many patients are able to feel better about how they look. Sydney rhinoplasty surgeon Darrell Perkins has the background, training and experience to use revision rhinoplasty and help his valued patients achieve the more beautiful results they seek. We encourage you to contact Dr. Perkins today for a free revision rhinoplasty consultation.

There are many different ways that you can have your appearance enhanced and improved. Many of these options will target the face since your face can communicate so much about your energy level and age. When you visit our Sydney plastic surgery center, we’ll make sure that all of your questions are answered and all of your concerns are addressed.

Enhancing the Definition of Your Face

Most people think that the only surgeries they really need to enhance their appearance are the facelift or a rhinoplasty (nose job). In fact, there are many other options that you ought to consider for the best possible appearance. During your visit, we can go over all of the available options for facial enhancement in greater detail. One option to consider for improving the definition of your face is facial implants for the cheekbones.

About Cheek Augmentation

Indeed, cheek implants and augmentation is a great way to make your appearance seem more defined and chiseled. The surgery will involve the placement of facial implants into the cheekbone area. The facial implants come in different sizes and shapes to help improve the overall look of your face. We will choose the implants that best complement the rest of your facial features.

Best Candidates for Cheek Augmentation

The best candidates for cheek augmentation are people who have a lack of definition in the cheek area. This may make their other facial features seem disproportionate. These candidates should be in good overall health and not suffer from any medical conditions that would prevent them from undergoing other sorts of surgeries. During your visit to our New South Wales plastic surgery center, we’ll see if you will be best served by cheek implants.

The Cheek Augmentation Procedure

The procedure for placing cheek implants will vary from patient to patient. If you are undergoing multiple facial surgeries (such as Sydney eyelid surgery or a facelift), the incisions for these other surgeries will be used to place the cheek implants. That said, if you are undergoing a cheek augmentation alone, the cheek implants will be placed and positioned through small incisions that are located around the lower eyelids or inside of the mouth.

After Cheek Augmentation Surgery

Stitches will be placed to seal off these incisions sites and should dissolve in about a week to 10 days. You’ll be given extensive post-surgical instructions to ensure you heal properly. In general, you’ll want to get a lot of rest and avoid strenuous physical activity, especially in the first few days after surgery. You’ll come back to the practice a few days after surgery to ensure that you are healing properly and that you are not experiencing any complications. If you should experience any undue pain or discomfort, do not hesitate to contact our practice.

Visit Our Practice Today or More Information

If you would like more information about cheek augmentation and other options for expert facial plastic surgery, be sure to contact our Sydney cosmetic surgery practice today. Our team of plastic surgery specialists will make sure that you receive the best possible care. We look forward to your visit.

One of the parts of the face that people take for granted is the chin. The eyes get looked at a lot, and the nose and lips do too, but the chin is integral to giving people a face that is well shaped and well proportioned. It’s for that reason that many patients go seek out a Sydney plastic surgeon in order to get a chin augmentation surgery.

What is chin augmentation?

Chin augmentation surgery is a facial plastic surgery option that is performed to enhance or alter the shape of the chin. This can be done by using a facial implant or by adjusting the shape of the existing bone in the chin area. The exact needs of the patient will be addressed at our Sydney plastic surgery practice, with a treatment plan developed in accordance with the patient’s needs and wishes.

How Facial Implants Work

Facial implants are essentially what they sound like. There are artificial shapes and forms that are inserted into different parts of the face to alter the appearance. These may be made of synthetic bone or other materials. Facial implants can be placed in the lips, the cheekbones, and the chin area.

Benefits of Chin Augmentation

Since the different facial features are complementary, undergoing a chin augmentation surgery may eliminate your need to undergo another facial surgery, such as Sydney rhinoplasty. By adding prominence to the chin, focus is taken away from the size or shape of the nose. Similar, removing bone matter from the chin area can leave your face looking better proportioned and formed.

The Chin Augmentation Procedure

The chin augmentation procedure will vary based on the patient’s needs. Generally, an incision will be made either under the chin or inside the lower lip. Through this incision, the chin implant is placed and underlying structures are adjusted. The entire surgery lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

Recovering After Chin Augmentation Surgery

Chin augmentation surgery is an outpatient procedure, so patient will be able to return home after the surgery is completed. (An overnight stay at a hospital may be required if you have multiple facial surgeries performed at once.) Patients should arrange for transportation to and from the surgical quite. It’s important that patients be well rested, well hydrated, and avoid any strenuous physical activities until a Sydney plastic surgeon says so.

We will be sure to provide even more detailed instructions for post-surgical recovery during the consultation process. This will ensure that you understand the risks and benefits involved with the surgery, allowing you to make a well-informed choice about your appearance and health.

Schedule a Consultation at Our Cosmetic Surgery Center

If you would like more information about chin augmentation and how it can benefit you and your needs, be sure to contact our Sydney cosmetic surgery center today. The entire team here is eager to meet you in person and to discuss all of your concerns in more detail.

When it comes to enhancing the appearance of the face, what you may find is that subtle changes of the appearance can have dramatic effects overall. Each facial feature complements the other in some way. Losing a few wrinkles here or a few wrinkles there can make you look much younger. A little eyelift can make all the difference. And what the team here at our Sydney plastic surgery center will tell you is that a little change to the nose can mean a whole lot of difference to your looks.

Dealing with the Appearance of the Nose

Not everyone is born with a nose that’s perfectly contoured or proportioned to their face. In addition to this fact, sometimes you can sustain an injury that alters the shape of the nose and may leave it crooked or with an unwanted bump. And of course, you also have to note the possibility of nasal passage problems which could be affecting your breathing passages.

Should any of these matters be the case, it’s a good reason to visit our Sydney plastic surgery practice. We will be able to tell you if you would be helped through the use of plastic surgery, specifically a rhinoplasty.

About Rhinoplasty (Nose Jobe)

A Sydney rhinoplasty (also called a nose job) is a surgery that is performed in order to change the shape and prominence of the nose. It can also be performed in order to adjust the internal structures of the nose to improve breathing.

Good Candidates for Rhinoplasty

The best candidates for rhinoplasty are people who are in good overall health that would not prevent them from otherwise undergoing surgery. They should have a good attitude about getting the surgery and also have realistic expectations about what the surgery will do for them. It’s important that patients make their decision to undergo surgery on their own and that they are not coerced into surgery by another person or party.

Rhinoplasty and Teens

A lot of people if their teen is a good candidate for rhinoplasty, and the answer is really that it depends. Very young teenagers we are less likely to consider for surgery compared to older teenagers. The reasons for this are many, though the most important ones are related to notions of maturity.

Younger teens are still growing, and if the rhinoplasty is cosmetic in nature, we want to wait until the teen has fully grown so that we can account for the overall affect the surgery will have on their face.

In addition to that, younger teens tend not to be as mature as older teens, so we want to make sure that the teenager understands what the surgery will involve and how it will affect his or her life going forward.

During the consultation process, we will be sure to answer your questions about rhinoplasty and provide all the information you need so that you can make the best decision possible.

Learn More About Your Cosmetic Enhancement Options

If you would like more information about rhinoplasty and if you or a loved on is a good candidate, contact our Sydney cosmetic surgery center today. The entire team here looks forward to meeting you in person and discussing your goals.

When you speak with a Sydney plastic surgeon, he or she will be able to determine the best way to enhance your overall contour and give you a figure that looks fit and fine for all sorts of weather. We’d like to look at the tummy tuck surgery right now and see who would best benefit from it and how it is performed.

Who is a good candidate for tummy tuck?

The best candidates for tummy tuck surgery are people who have stretched out skin in the abdominal area due to pronounced weight loss. In many cases, the tummy tuck will be combined with additional body contouring surgeries to achieve a comprehensive recontouring of your entire body.

When you speak with skilled Sydney plastic surgeon Dr. Darrell Perkins, he will determine the best way to perform the surgery in accordance with your situation and your aesthetic goals. He’ll have a few options to consider when it comes to the surgery.

Traditional Tummy Tuck Surgery

During a traditional tummy tuck surgery, there are three incisions that are made. The first incision is made along the lower abdomen from one hipbone to the other. Another incision is made around the belly button. A third incision is made that connects these previous two incisions, one which is simply a line from the belly button incision to the center of the hipbone incision. It’s helpful to think of the shape of an anchor.

Through these incisions, excess fat and tissue is removed and the underlying structures of the abdominal area are adjusted.

Mini-Tummy Tuck Surgery

The traditional Sydney tummy tuck is great for most patients, though other patients may need less recontouring and skin removal. In such cases, there is the mini-tummy tuck.

The mini-tummy tuck is performed in much the same way as a traditional tummy tuck, though the incisions are fewer and often smaller. In many cases, an incision need only be made along the lower abdomen, and it doesn’t have to span from hip to hip. It may only be a few inches long. Through this incision, tissue is removed and structures are adjusted.

Extended Tummy Tuck Surgery

For major body contouring needs, there is the extended tummy tuck. It’s like the traditional tummy tuck and also involves the same anchor-shaped incisions. The incision along the lower abdoment spans further, however. It may continue past the hipbones to the side of the hips and even to the back corner of the hipbone. This decision will be made based on your needs.

Which kind of tummy tuck is best for me?

That all really depends on what your situation is like, which is why you need to come to our Sydney plastic surgery practice to learn about how this surgery may benefit you. We’ll answer any questions that you may have and address all of your concerns as well.

Cosmetic eyelid surgery is quite effective if you are looking to reduce the wrinkling, drooping, or sagging of the eyelids in order to restore a youthful appearance. The surgery is quite safe, though as with any surgery there are some risks involved. Of course, by following our instructions for post-operative care, you’ll be able to greatly reduce any chance of complications occurring. We’ll be able to go over the entire process in greater length when you visit our Sydney plastic surgery center, but for the time being, we’d like to go over the basics of eyelift recovery with you.

In the initial day or two after surgery, patients can expect redness and swelling around the eyes as well as some amount of discomfort. This can be managed with pain relievers and cold compresses. The eyes are prone to tearing up quite a bit in these early days of recovery as well. We’ll provide you with an ointment that you should gently apply to the eyelids during the first days of recovery. You may also require eye drops in these early days to keep your eyes moist.

Over the course of the first week following Sydney eyelid surgery, it’s important that patients avoid any sorts of activities that will lead to eyestrain or overworking the eyes. That means to avoid reading, using the computer, watching television or movies, and wearing contact lenses. Wearing dark glasses is a good idea to protect the eyes from sunlight, wind, or harsh lighting. It’s extremely important that you get rest during this period to ensure that you heal properly. By the end of this first week, your stitches will be removed.

Patients should be healed and ready to return to their daily activities after about 10 days. For the entire first month after surgery, be sure to avoid any physically strenuous activities, especially those which would cause increased pressure to the head and face (e.g., squatting, lifting, bending).

All of these time estimates can vary from patient to patient, so please understand that these are just general timeframes we’re addressing.

To learn more about cosmetic eyelid surgery as well as the many other options that you have for facial plastic surgery, contact our Sydney cosmetic surgery practice today.

Liposuction has been one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures for decades. It is one of the safest and most effective fat removal techniques on the market. In response to liposuction’s popularity, experts and medical companies have developed non-surgical body contouring procedures. These less invasive options continue to improve, and an increased number of patients are undergoing non-invasive body sculpting treatments instead of cosmetic surgery. Sydney plastic surgeon Darrell Perkins reviews the differences between liposuction and the procedure’s non-surgical alternatives.

Liposuction

Most people are familiar with how the liposuction procedure works. The surgeon makes an incision in the area that is going to be treated. A suctioning device (the cannula) is inserted into the body through the incision site and is used to vacuum fat cells out of the body. There are several variations of liposuction that can be performed, including tumescent liposuction (the use of injections to make fat easier to remove), ultrasonic liposuction (the use of radiofrequency waves to make fat easier to remove), and laser liposuction (the use of laser light to make fat easier to remove). Advances in liposuction techniques have decreased the risk of side effects and complications associated with the procedure. However, a growing number of our Sydney liposuction patients are considering less invasive options that do not require surgery.

Non-surgical Body Contouring

Non-surgical liposuction alternatives such as VelaShape and Body by Thermage do not involve use general anesthesia or any incisions in the treatment area. During your appointment, the chosen device is applied to the skin for a pre-determined amount of time. These non-surgical procedures employ radiofrequency energy, infrared light, massage rollers, and a suctioning method to target and break up fat cells and tighten the skin. The downside of these non-surgical treatments is that a series of five to six treatments is need to produce desired results in patients; further, the treatment works best on patients with small amounts of excess fat or skin.

Patients with a mild amount of fat and cellulite may be good candidates for non-surgical body contouring treatments, while those with an increased amount of fat may be more suitable candidates for liposuction surgery. Contact the practice of Dr. Darrell Perkins to find out if body contouring plastic surgery treatments are right for you.

Many people have turned to cosmetic surgery to help enhance their appearance, whether subtly or dramatically. This is especially true for celebrities since they are in the public eye at almost all hours of the day. Some celebrities turn to breast implants for enhanced curves and a shapelier figure, others turn to facial lifts to help remove wrinkles and tighten their skin. The team at our Sydney plastic surgery center would like to look at rhinoplasty and discuss a few celebrities who have benefited from this surgery.

A rhinoplasty, also referred to as a nose job, is a surgery that is performed to reshape and resculpt the nose. Generally people undergo a rhinoplasty to address aesthetically displeasing bumps or ridges on the bridge of the nose, but there are also medically necessary applications for rhinoplasty as well. If someone has a deviated septum, for example, rhinoplasty can be performed in order to fix the deviated septum.

So just which celebrities have undergone a Sydney rhinoplasty? Quite a few, and perhaps more than you thought already.

Kiera Knightley, for one, underwent a rhinoplasty at some point in the last six years, which is quite noticeable in before and after pictures. There has been plenty of speculation about how much plastic surgery that Christina Aguilera has undergone, and it seems likely that she’s at least had a nose job. Looking through some pictures over the years, it’s pretty clear that Beyonce has undergone a nose job.

Sometimes celebrities who undergo plastic surgery are subject to additional scrutiny. Take Heidi Montag, a United States television celebrity, for instance. She made her multiple plastic surgeries (including a rhinoplasty) quite public, which led many to speculate about whether she was addicted to surgery or not. Another United States celebrity who underwent a rhinoplasty, Ashlee Simpson, sparked some backlash and calls of hypocrisy after she told a magazine that people should accept their appearance as they are.

For more information about rhinoplasty and what can be done to improve your appearance through cosmetic surgery or non-surgical cosmetic enhancement, contact our Sydney cosmetic surgery practice today.
